1. Reflection on completed work I've found the work I've done in this class very helpful in understanding that there is no one way to teach a specific type of literacy or comprehension. In fact, I now have 15 + reference texts on each of the four main categories. In visual literacy, for example, I was excited to see that it's becoming more common to use graphic novels as a form of literature. I'm also excited to have so many materials to use for teaching reading comprehension. 2. Reflect on theories read and discussed One topic we discussed that I find especially important is how communication could be viewed or interpreted differently based on which cultural or conventional lens you use. I'm hoping to be an English teacher in either Japan or South Korea, and the cultural differences will be quite different.
